The Brief: (in a nutshell)

Write a blog, clearly, coherantly, without spelling & grammatical errors, including references, and no copying, unless referenced. Blog must contain 10-15 posts related to design, APA referencing to be used. blog must relate back to design history or media design, be opinionated, collect observations and resources.

As apart of my Digital Media (Advanced) course that I am doing at Natcoll Design Technology, this is one of my briefs (above—duh!) We are suppose to upload it to our college intranet AKA Utopia, but I hate it, don't know how to post comments on others, poor layout/flow, so i'm trusting blogger to help me out on this one!

[also, i've deleted my non—design related posts out of this blog and now this is just another design blog, and i'm going to focus more on writing more coherently, grammatically correct blah blah, for all my future posts (pfft, let's see how long that lasts).]

Pizza Hut Rebrand

Ew. was it really a good idea to change the famous name from Pizza Hut to "The Hut"? I suppose they are expanding there menu, and removing the word pizza gives them more room to expand. Last I heard, Pizza Hut was going broke and shutting down completely. I was surprised because it's such a well known world wide franchise. This is the end of Pizza Hut and Hello to The Hut. What do you guys think? A bad marketing decision, or the start of a new era?

Dick Smith Rebrand

Driving past the mall, I noticed Dicksmith Electronics have rebranded!

Goodbye, DICK && Hello, dick.

Whoa, a brand new look for Dick Smith Electronics, the old one was so classic, and was well known, but it has had it's time. The new logo is so much more slick and technological. I'm not too sure about the tagline, "Talk to the Techxperts" for some reason it hasn't stuck to me yet. Anyway, I think it's a good rebrand, now the stores merchandising and interior is also alot more modern and I can already feel the fresh new brand of dicksmith.

Apple Website Ad

Apple has come up with a very interesting website ad concept, takes over the new york times website!

So, I'm still in the progress of creating my Poster for my "Style&Technique" brief, which is such a mission, i've found it such a challenge to adapt the style of "Graham Rounthwaite" who is an AMAZING illustrator, check him out on Google. amazing stuff. Love the whole Japanese street fashion style he has going on, all the pictures have alot of attitude. I know my piece looks nothing like his work at the moment, but shut up. I'm trying. o.O

So, when you spend hours doing an illustration, you can't help but wonder what the world would look like done in illustration. That would be so cool, right?

Branding.

we have an industry brief, and it is to brand the IPC Athletics world championships. IPC (International Paralympic Committee).

They wanted something that showed unity, support, and have a Christchurch feel. I thought flowers, all represent different symbolic meanings, just like all different athletes/people. Coming together in what we call "The Garden City" Christchurch.
