Logo Critiqe

Boyle River Outdoor Education needs a new identity, they have asked me to create something adventurous and exhilirating!

Starting with the logo:
I want something that sums up "The Boyle".
The unique selling point is alpine, keywords are mountain, river, challenging, problem solving, alpine, river, outdoor education. Ill try be breif...

Here is what i've come up with.

01. Alpine River Experience: First concept, tying in mountain and river, using a waterdop as the main shape.

02. Adventurous Leader: Symbol of the two mountains from the original logo, giving a more cutting edge adventurous stylisation to it. The larger mountain represents the "leader."

03: Solvig Building: Represents blocks of a puzzle, or a problem needing to be solved ie. How many triangles are in the logo? Also represents building, strong character building.

04: Waterscape: It's a waterscape. Representing Lewis Pass, with the mountains and the river.

Thanks for feedback if you give some!

Ok. Critique. You asked for it.

#1: Looks empty. Like a ring-pull from a coke can. Either that or a really happy raindrop. It's too focused on the interior for an outdoor education centre. And your type looks unbalanced. Or it might just be me.

#2: Star trek much? Well, it's no big deal, but the angles involved aren't doing it for me. Because the taller mountain has a sharper angle, the harmony is broken. Perhaps I would make the triangles the same shape to begin with, scale one, and then take the angle from the inside? I'm not too sure how it would look though. And the gap between the cuts might be a little too big. And why does your logo extend past your text? Shouldn't they line up? I think this idea might work better in the negative, so perhaps you could create a positive shape with the mountain buddies inside? And maybe think arrows as well. Cause they infer upwards, and the client's customers are trying to challenge themselves. I think away from the angles and maybe more like an upside down v. Yeah. Again, just an opinion.

#3: Booyah. Use this one. But why isn't your text the same width as your logo? I DONT UNDERSTAND! Hahahaha. If they're meant to be used together, then you should design them together. But yeah. I like it.

#4: It doesn't flow well enough. The river is really bulky. But if you worked more with the scale and placement of the triangles you might be able to push this one into puzzle piece territory, which would be kinda snazzy. Think more like this:

Yay CCC! Haha. But yesss. Go ricky. I'm sure you can tell I like #3 best. But the others have potential.

Hope you're having fun with it! How is class going? :D
